Excerpt from chapter
eleven:
Once again, his thoughts ceased, and only a void remained, as he left
his physical body behind. His consciousness floated in the inky blackness
of the unknown, and gradually, he turned his attention to the future,
extrapolating the events and conditions of the present, viewing the possibilities.
In his vision, he saw turmoil and some violence, a resistance born of
the changes which would sweep over the world. Some would never embrace
the Dharma, and were desperate to hold onto what power and wealth they
were attached to. A new threat of terrorism in America would be born,
only this time the terrorist network would be funded and driven by the
wealthy elite, intent on thwarting the Dharma movement.
As he peered further into the future he saw the ultimate collapse of this
resistance occurring, as funding for them dried up, and the powerful forces
of progress, the overwhelming momentum of the positive changes made their
efforts seem less and less effective.
Soon the entire world would be caught up in the changes sweeping the United
States, and anti-U.S. sentiment abroad would subside. He saw that even
the Islamic nations with which U.S. relations had been hostile, were receptive
to the efforts the new U.S. was making. Looking deeper into the future
he saw a time when the United Nations would become the true governing
body of the world, with the various nations becoming as states of one
united planet. In a few decades, he saw a time when the influence of the
U.N. would supercede all sovereign nations' laws, and member nations would
willingly obey U.N. resolutions on international issues.
